FOV, UK is a charitable organisation that supports the Christian Medical College, Vellore. The charity, which has been operating for over 50 years, is particularly concerned to ensure that everyone can receive appropriate treatment regardless of their ability to pay. FOV provides funds for programmes treating the disadvantaged communities of India through schemes like Person to Person – PTP.
FOV is raising funds for the extension of the Rehab Institute (shown right) which will allow another 35 patients to be treated AND should provide income from private patients that will help provide community based rehab services.

The Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore is a large health care provider in South India. They provide primary, secondary and tertiary health care to people from Vellore, the rest of India and her neighbouring countries.
CMC also trains a wide range of healthcare professionals and encourages them to serve within India. From its beginnings in 1900, the driving force has been to serve the poor and marginalised following in the footsteps of Jesus' healing ministry. This includes caring for women, children and in more recent years people with disabilities. The rehabilitation services at CMC were some of the first in the country and sadly they remain one of the few places in South Asia where people with disabilities can be helped.
CMC, Vellore is managed by a council of Indian Christian churches & organisations and is recognised as one of the best hospitals in India. The institution is largely self supporting but receives funds from abroad to help treat the large number of poor patients attending who cannot afford to pay for their own care. Some of the major capital projects, such as the extension to the Rehabilitation Institute that is being built at the moment, are also part funded by donors outside India
PTP is the scheme that enables you to give money to pay for the treatment of poor patients. Departments identify people who cannot afford the treatment and ask PTP to help. The young girl in the wheelchair is unable to pay the fees for her rehabilitation so PTP is helping. She is seen with Richard Smith, FOV director, and Dr Suranjan of PMR.
PTP also provides subsidised accommodation at the Chathram - patients often have to stay at the hospital for many weeks which can be very expensive. The Chatram is shown in the right paragraph.
