Meet the Director
Works in close partnership with the Christian Medical College in Vellore, Tamil Nadu to encourage the provision of high quality medical service at the Hospital and to facilitate access to it by the widest spectrum of the local population. The Charity, which has been operating for over 50 years is particularly concerned to promote initiatives aimed at the disadvantaged and deprived and ensure that everyone can receive appropriate treatment regardless of their ability to pay.
We invite people to support this work and particularly welcome discussing with donors how their gift will achieve the outcome, which is intended. Some gifts are aimed at providing support for the treatment of individuals while others help establish new or enhanced facilities. We have good communication with the Hospital and can advise on how support can best be applied to greatest effect.

At the moment, one of our priority schemes is the upgrading and extending of the Rehabilitation Unit, which helps those who have become paralysed or lost limbs through accident or disease. Demands on this unit have increased as a result of increased traffic and industrial accidents. The photo above shows the new physio gym on the second floor emerging that FOV is sponsoring.
At “Rehab”, patients receive sympathetic treatment of the highest quality to achieve as much physical recovery as is possible. This is complemented by training in work skills, which will allow the patient to earn money as well as achieve a role in society. Access to this quality of treatment in India is rare but it can provide hope to those for whom life could not get much worse.
All gifts are sent without any deduction to the Hospital and in many cases can be increased through Gift Aid. We are very happy to keep donors up to date with progress on their gift and the results achieved.
Friends of Vellore is one of the most effective ways of helping create access to quality medical services for the local population. Support for the hospital’s outreach services means that help is available to all regardless of circumstances or location. With 30% of the population living below the poverty line these services can literally be life savers and I would ask you to join us in supporting these families and individuals for whom even a small gift can mean so much.
I look forward to hearing from you.
